WRITING FOR PUBLIC RELATIONS- course requires students to write press releases, pitch letters, broadcast releases, fact sheets, and feature stories. Students are graded on correct formatting, word usage, and AP style. Students pitch press kits.

 

PUBLIC RELATIONS CASE STUDIES & ETHICS- course allows students to learn from well-known public relations cases and apply strategic decision making skills. Students learn how to effectively handle employee, consumer, media and investor relations.

 

STYLE & DESIGN IN PUBLIC RELATIONS MESSAGES- course offers hands-on experience with social media, bloging, Flip video cameras, Adobe Photoshop, Dreamweaver, InDesign and Flash. Students are exposed to the World Wide Rave phenomenon by David Meerman Scott.

 

SURVEY RESEARCH METHODS- students learn how to effectively create, perform and analyze surveys for public relations research.

 

PUBLIC RELATIONS CAMPAIGNS- student groups work with real-life clients to create a public relations campaign. This course serves as the culmination project for all pr coursework.
